Hi Empire

The Hi Empire, located on the southwestern portion of the Sao super continent, is a proud nation of stalwart innovators, rigid traditionalists, and fearsome warriors. The Hi were always a culture unto itself, finally gaining their independence only two hundred years ago. The Hi people are strong and healthy consuming a staple diet of nutritious maen sprouts and fish. The men are strong known for their burly nature and fastidious attitude towards well groomed facial hair, curly or bushy mustaches being the most common. The women are likewise known for being large and mustachioed, but take great pains to conform to the tiny, dainty, porcelain ideal for beauty in Hian culture. The empire is ruled by an absolute monarch, a chosen messiah elected from within the extensive Jee family. The current emperor is now an old man being continuously elected to rule since the age of nineteen. There are no clear candidates for his replacement but few wonder if his illustrious well respected rule can possibly be equaled in the next generation.

The Hi empire struggles for having limited access to natural resources and land. The population limit is strictly adhered to and the majority of people live in heavily crowded industrialized cities. Industry is the greatest boon for the Hi empire. They rely of automated production processes and large equipment to make up for their lack of human resources. Though some factories rely on zoal-hume power to the majority of Hian energy comes from zoalified amber reactors. The widespread use of these reactors has caused many problems in Hian society, but it has also allowed the Hi empire to keep from falling behind.

The Hi empire is plagued by the shadow of their powerful neighbor The Kingdom. Apprehension over a possible invasion at any time has led to a heavily militarized society where all men must serve a limited time in the military, resources are stocked for invasion, and autocratic rule of society dominates. Sword culture is prominent throughout the military and every recruit is trained in the usage of the unique curved Hian long sword. Mechanized automatic crossbows, fire bombs, and plate piercing spears are also utilized. The staple of the Hian military and crowning achievement, however, are the Yoroi, powerful armored soldiers. These soldiers don many pounds of heavy inflexible folded Hian steel. To heavy for any normal hume to move in the plates are lifted and moved by amber powered micro actuators. The Yoroi are then equipped with power lances or automatic crossbows, and wade into battle nigh impervious to any form of harm save being tipped over.

Though they possess many faults, the virtue and ingenuity of the Hian people has allowed them to remain independent for the past two hundred years, with the odds resolutely indicating that they will continue to be free for the foreseeable future.
